Heavy duty trash bags: common questions
Industrial and construction use is commonly 40 to 80 micron (about 1.6 to 3.2 mil); contractor bags are commonly 75 micron (about 3 mil) or above. The right thickness depends on the load and whether the waste contains sharp items.
For sharp items, construction debris or heavy wet waste, LDPE is recommended for its better stretch and puncture resistance. For dry, regularly shaped waste, HDPE or LLDPE can reach sufficient strength at a lower thickness.
They are the same class of product. Contractor is the usual term in the US market, mostly for construction and refurbishment; heavy duty and industrial waste bags are the general terms. The specification requirements are the same — only the wording differs by region.
